Butleigh Primary School has a Planned Admission Number of 16 for the year of entry and places will be allocated up to this number.

School tours

If your child is starting school in Reception in next September or you would like your child to attend our school, we recommended booking a guided tour from Mrs. Moth, please call or email the school office to arrange this. We would welcome any visitors who would like to look around the school before applying. 

Who to apply to

All applications for a starting school place in next September, must be made to your home authority – this is who you pay your council tax to. If your child is currently school aged, you can complete an in-year application which is made directly to the school using the in-year application form. A decision will be notified in writing by email to the applicant within ten school days.

Deadlines for applications

If you are applying for a primary school place the deadline is 15th January 2026

If you are applying for a secondary school place the deadline is 31st October 2025

What happens if you missed the deadline or want to change your preferences after the closing date

Please note, it is the parent/carer’s responsibility to make an on-time school place application. If you are making an application after the closing date, it will be classed as late and your application will be considered according to the dates below.

For applications received by 3 May 2026 we will aim to send outcomes on 7 June 2026.

Applications received after 3 May 2026 will be processed in strict date order of receipt and outcomes sent out after 7 June 2026.

How you find out which school you’ve been offered

If you applied online by 15 January, you will receive an email with the outcome of your application by April 2026. 

If you applied using a paper application form your outcome will be sent out by second class post on 16 April 2026. 

Outcomes will not be given out over the phone.
