We follow the National Curriculum to complete planning for PE lessons.
Planning
At Butleigh C of E Primary School, we follow the National Curriculum and regularly link our art projects to our class topic, for deeper enrichment and to approach these topics from a creative perspective. We ensure that planning incorporates the use of a wide range of media and that it allows children to experience the work of artists and craftsmen, working with a particular medium or topic, allowing critical evaluation of these artists’ work and enabling children to draw on their ideas for their own art. The school website has links to planning which shows how our long-term plan for art feeds into the plans for each term.
Impact
Children enjoying PE and able to apply the skills they have learnt to opportunities outside of school. KS1 and KS2 children are given the opportunity to take part in events, competing against other schools in the area. Children are physically active and learn the importance of this for their future well being.
Recording
Lessons do not require written notes. Ongoing teacher assessment will take place. The children are assessed on their increasing knowledge and skills. Work will also be documented through photos on the school website.
Reporting
On our annual reports, which are given to parents at the end of the year, a judgement will be made regarding their child’s attainment in PE relating to the national curriculum for their year group.
Monitoring
The curriculum leader works alongside their curriculum partner to collate evidence including analysing how planning matches the activities done in lessons, learning walks, speaking to pupils about their learning and discussing with colleagues what has gone well as well as any lessons learnt.
